I made this tiefling name generator as a resource to help DnD players get inspiration for a new tiefling character and to help quickly come up with tiefling names for DMs. In DnD 5e, tiefling names are broken down into male, female, and virtue names. Virtue names are those taken by younger tieflings who are striving to find a place in the world. These virtue names signify a concept they try to embody, a quest they’ve undertaken, or a destiny they foresee.
The adult tiefling names in this generator are those that reflect their Infernal heritage; some are taken from the Player’s Handbook, others from my imagination. However, some tieflings are simply named in the custom of whatever culture they’re born into. Since they come from human bloodlines, these naming conventions likely follow whatever human settlement they were raised in. For the same reason, I’ve also included tiefling surnames that match a variety of human cultures’ surnames from the Player’s Handbook.
